Why does copywriting cost so much?

There are three main ways to get relevant content on your site.

  1. Write it yourself
  2. Pay a service to give you content
  3. Hire a copywriter

What is the difference and why does it matter?

Relevant content is one of the most important ways Google and many other search engines decide who gets to the top of the searches. Who comes up first.

And you want it to be your business don’t you? Being the first choice that your potential client sees.

So you have the three choices listed above. Which one is best?

The best is to write it yourself. For the following reasons:

  • Your are selling yourself as well as your business and it is a way for your clients to get a feel for you and your business
  • You are the expert in your field and know many interesting little tips and tricks that copywriters don’t know about
  • You can write a small paragraph of content everyday taking about 10 minutes filled with your relevant keywords and in no time you will have a wealth of knowledge online to share with potential clients and search engines will rank you as the expert in your field.

But may be too busy for that, so the second option is to hire a content service. Very bad idea. Why?

Here is an excerpt from a website of an accountant called Goldin & Co (not one of our clients) which can be found at

You can read it if you want but it is not relevant. Though the writing is fine there is a really, REALLY  big problem which I will tell you about below the excerpt. So skip the writing in red and I might shock you.

Now if you highlight that excerpt and paste it into your google search, guess what happens? Well, over 8 pages of almost exact copy on similar websites come up. Go ahead do it, it is a bit shocking.

Is that what you want for your business? To look exactly like all your competitors?

Even if that doesn’t matter to you it matters A LOT to Google. Why? Because google decides who gets to the top by using a algorithm that ferrets out original content.

Which brings us to the last option, paying a professional copywriter to write original content which you can check yourself by employing the same cut and paste technique to see if they are reselling, or reusing the articles they write for you.

Lastly, why is it so expensive? Because a real copywriter checks keywords and uses them in a clear and concise way that engages your potential client. They research what they write about to check validity and may even interview their employer to be the voice of the employer rather than just a sound bite. They double-check grammar and structure.

It all takes time. They do it each time only for one employer. It is not a cut and paste job.

If you don’t have time to write your blog yourself. We have someone on staff to ghostwrite for you so contact us.
